An in-depth water quality learning experience in partnership with Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District
Mequon Nature Preserve offers a more in-depth water quality learning experience through the Water Passport Program. This program is offered in partnership with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD).
Students will have the opportunity to experience three different but connected field trips all pertaining to the importance of water quality and water health.
Students visit MMSD’s Jones Island Reclamation Facility to learn about wastewater treatment and the importance of clean water for our communities.
Experience the wetlands of Mequon Nature Preserve firsthand, exploring how natural ecosystems filter water and support biodiversity.
An MNP educator brings the learning back to your classroom with an interactive watershed demonstration, connecting all three experiences.
These three experiences follow a general order with the season, but their order can be customized to fit your school schedule.
MMSD serves these communities: Bayside, Brookfield, Brown Deer, Butler, Caledonia, Cudahy, Elm Grove, Fox Point, Franklin, Germantown, Glendale, Greendale, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Menomonee Falls, Mequon, Milwaukee, Muskego, New Berlin, Oak Creek, River Hills, Saint Francis, Shorewood, Thiensville, Wauwatosa, West Allis, West Milwaukee, and Whitefish Bay.
