Ways to Volunteer

Group Volunteers

All group volunteers (3 or more people) can sign up for a workday Monday-Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm.

Perfect for school and corporate groups looking for a team-building experience in nature!

Restoration Rangers

Our Restoration Rangers program runs from May-October on Thursdays at 9:00am. Work alongside our Land Restoration staff on a variety of projects.

Open to everyone 14 years and up.

Volunteer Teachers

Help Education staff on field trips! Field trips are scheduled throughout the year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00am-1:00pm.

All those interested will undergo a background check.

Event Volunteers

We have five main events throughout the year. Let us know if you would like to help out at one!

Front Desk

Greet visitors, answer questions, and help with administrative tasks at the PieperPower Education Center.

Join the Restoration Rangers

Our Restoration Rangers program is perfect for those who want hands-on experience in habitat restoration and land stewardship. Work alongside our expert Land Restoration staff on projects that make a real difference.

When: May through October, Thursdays at 9:00am

Who: Open to everyone 14 years and up

What you’ll do: Plant native trees and shrubs, remove invasive species, maintain trails, and learn about ecological restoration techniques.

No experience necessary—just a willingness to get your hands dirty and help restore the land!

Volunteer Field Trip Teachers

Share your passion for nature with students! Volunteer teachers help our Education staff lead field trips for students of all ages throughout the year.

Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00am-1:00pm

What you’ll do: Lead or assist with outdoor activities, guide students through habitats, help with hands-on learning stations, and share your enthusiasm for the natural world.

Requirements: All volunteer teachers undergo a background check. We welcome students from all schools to come here for FREE field trips!

Volunteer expressly acknowledges that in performing any volunteer activities, certain of the activities may involve use of fire, herbicides, chain saws, power equipment or other utensils and tools which may or may not be inherently dangerous and which are capable of causing property damage and/or bodily injury. The volunteer assumes full responsibility for any risk of property damage or bodily injury caused by, arising out of, or related to volunteer’s access on the Mequon Nature Preserve for the purpose of or while performing any of the activities, except for injuries or damage caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of MNP or their respective officers, directors, employees and staff.
