Bee Club
Since 2014, MNP has hosted an ever-growing group of bee enthusiasts. Monthly meetings are held at Mequon Nature Preserve, giving local bee keepers a chance to share their successes and concerns with one another. Honey from the hives is then sold at the Education Center!

Why are bees important to our environment?
Bees are responsible for the pollination of 60 percent of our fruits. Without them, our food supply would be severely limited. Flower and tree species would also suffer reproductive losses. Backyard beekeepers report dramatic improvements in their gardens’ yields when honey bees are present.
What can you do to help the bees?
Backyard beekeeping (or beekeeping at MNP) is vital to the recovery of honeybee populations and to offset the loss of natural habitat throughout our country.
