Maple Tree Tapping

Join MNP staff and Dan Panetti (Wild Birds Unlimited, Mequon) on a hike to watch the male American woodcock’s unique “sky dance” mating ritual. Ask an MNP Expert / Green Infrastructure Open House
Wednesday, July 24 | 4:30PM – 8:00PM
Learn about the multitude of green infrastructure strategies in place at MNP that help reduce water pollution, flooding and erosion. Bioswales, pervious asphalt, rain gardens and the newly-installed StormGUARDen™ system are all examples of green infrastructure that can serve as a model or inspiration for the homeowner. Visitors are also welcome to bring any other “green-based” questions to this informal, walk-in event. (StormGUARDen™ installation sponsored by Sweet Water, MMSD, Fund for Lake Michigan, GEI Consultants, Jacobs and Smithgroup.)

Do you know there are many other pollinators besides honey bees? Bats, birds, butterflies, beetles, wasps, flies… OTHER bees (like carpenter), and so many more play a role in this critical process.

Join Pollinator Specialist Jennifer Lazewski on this FREE guided hike to learn about native bees and the other fascinating pollinators found at MNP. No RSVP required.

Raising and Saving Monarchs Workshop
Saturday, August 3 | 1-3PM

Learn about our Pollinators, food and Milkweed. Survival rates, facts and why they are endangered. Enjoy the video of the Monarch Life-Cycle and Migration. Learn how to successfully raise Monarchs from egg to releasing the adults (these are not pets) back to nature. How you can help this species and our planet naturally. And join in the egg hunt!
Carol has successfully raised Monarchs in Mequon, WI and Arizona. Benefit from her experience (and mistakes) and learn
how easy it is to raise these insects in a responsible way. Resources and a handout will also be provided for supplies.

ATTENDANCE IS CAPPED AT 32.
ATTENDEES MUST BE 13-YEARS OLD AND ABOVE.

Discover the many benefits of adding natives, including the art of attracting pollinators, keeping water where it falls and minimizing ongoing maintenance.

Monarch Tagging Workshop

Workshop attendees about the monarch’s migration to Mexico and how you can help researchers track the monarchs! This workshop is open to all ages and will include tagging monarch butterflies! And if you ask nicely, Kristin will send you home with tags to use on monarchs by your home!
