There is lots of wildlife living on the Preserve! Watch out for a variety of bird species, deer, muskrats, and rodents. They can be found hanging out in our wetlands, in the trees, or roaming the prairies!

MNP prides itself on removing nonnative, invasive species and planting native plants, trees and shrubs. We then collect seed from our native plants in order to use for seeding in the fall and winter. Help us out by looking for a variety of plant species!

Insects are a huge part of MNP! Whether they pollinate, eat pesky bugs, or look pretty, we want to know what is here! You can find these guys all throughout the Preserve!

Project eBird

Help us with our bird monitoring by entering in bird species in eBird! Create an account, it’s free and easy to use! When you spot a bird, you enter the species, location, and optional photo. Make sure to tag Mequon Nature Preserve, that way we can log it into our records as well! Click the link to check it out!

Phenology monitoring

We love the diversity of native plants here! Helps us track what is growing on the land by entering what you see while hiking the trails! Click the link to enter your data!

Insects, birds, and plants

If you are more interested in observing insects, inaturalist is the place to go! It is also a great place to put in plant and wildlife data as well. Click the link to check it out!
